Mosley brothers place in South Texas PGA Golf Tournament

The Southern Texas PGA held their 2009 Golf Tournament at several well-known and beautiful courses in the Beaumont Region.

The STPGA has seven regions throughout southern Texas. Two young golfers from Devers played in the Beaumont Region: Drake Mosley in the 13-15 year age group, and Nolan Mosley in the 16-18 year age group.

Each tournament allowed each golfer a chance to earn points as they played in nine tournaments and, at the end of the season, Drake was eighth in the state and second in the Beaumont Region.

Nolan finished 21st in the Beaumont Region placing him at 177th out of 315 talented golfers from the South Texas PGA.

The last Regional Season Tournament at Eagle Pionte in Mont Belvieu went into a playoff at Hole One and Hole Two, in which Drake won to capture his first tournament win!

Drake had placed second, third and fifth place through all nine weeks of play.

The top three golfers from each region were invited to play in Houston at Cypress Woods Golf Course. Drake Mosley was one of the three from the Beaumont Region.

Drake’s two-day total score was not good enough to advance him to the second round.

Nolan Mosley and Drake Mosley have been representing and were sponsored by the First Tee Program of the Golden Triangle this summer. Nolan and Drake are members of the Liberty High Varsity Golf Team.

Their first varsity golf tournament is Mon., Oct. 26 in Crosby at the Newport Country Club.
