Columbus — Rain washed out the first day of the Ohio state golf tournament at the Ohio State Golf Club on Friday.
The tournament will be reduced to a one-day, 18-hole event today. The Division I boys tournament will be played at Ohio State’s Scarlet course and the Div. a girls tournament is scheduled for OSU’s Gray Course.
Canfield High junior Boo Timko, who shot rounds of 72 at both the sectional and district tournaments to qualify, is the only area player at the state tournament this weekend.
The rainout is only the second time in the tournament’s history.
Timko is making his third appearance at the state tournament.
He was a member of the Warren JFK team in 2007 and 2008. Last fall he finished tied for 10th among all individuals in the Division III tournament with a score of 155. In 2007 he shot 163.
