The opening of LaTour Golf Club is the fulfillment a dream held by the late Lafourche Parish businessman and philanthropist John Brady, Jr. Brady, former head of Lafourche Telephone Company, spent more than a decade developing LaTour and brought in Toms as the course designer, but he passed away in 2008 as it was nearing completion. The Inaugural Golf Day will begin with a Members Only David Toms Golf Clinic at 8:30 a.m., followed by a meet-and-greet with Toms at 10 a.m. The John Brady Memorial Golf Tournament tees off at 11 a.m.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the John and Clara Brady Family Foundation, which provides support to a variety youth, education and church-related causes.
"We are thrilled to be hosting this great day of golf at the new LaTour Golf Club. This is something that my father dreamed about for years, and I know he would be proud," said Trey Brady, co-owner of LaTour. "David Toms has designed a fantastic and unique course, and we are pleased and honored that he will be joining us for this special occasion."
The new LaTour Golf Club is located at 300 LaTour Blvd., off Highway 308 and just south of Highway 90 in Mathews. LaTour Golf Club
Designed by PGA tour champion David Toms, the golf course at LaTour has beautifully landscaped rolling terrain that is unique to the region. The course boasts a 7,232 yard championship layout, featuring "Mini-Verde" greens with abundant water, pure white sand traps, and 75 acres of native grass areas. The course offers a challenge for golfers of every skill level by selecting one of four teeing areas for each hole that the golfer can match the course to their own skill level.
