Ex-FGCU golfer Lamely officially secures 2010 PGA Tour card

Fort Myers resident and former Florida Gulf Coast University golfer Derek Lamely was one of 25 Nationwide Tour players who secured a 2010 PGA Tour card today at the season-ending Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island in Charleston, S.C., by finishing among the year's top 25 money-winners.
Lamely, 29, finished fourth on the tour's money list. He had five top-10 finishes and won the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational in August.
"I'm excited about what's coming up and I'm sure all of us in the top 25 feel the same way," Lamely said. "It's the pinnacle of golf. Of all the people that play golf around the world, there is such a small number of people that ever get to play in a single PGA Tour event, but to have the opportunity to play a full year out there will be incredible."
The Nationwide Tour's 29-tournament season came to a conclusion Sunday at the Ralston Creek course at the Daniel Island Club, with Matt Every winning the $1 million Nationwide Tour Championship. Lamely tied for 27th.
